EDUCATION

  • Study 3D printing from a biomedical approach! The Master of Biofabrication is run by University Utrecht and has an annual intake for students to start in September. It is a 2-year program with the opportunity to participate in two research internships; one internal and one potentially in an international institute. Aside from internships in renowned institutes, the course consists of an introductory program, elective courses, life science seminars and a writing assignment.

  • As part of the Summer School Utrecht, the Malda Lab coordinates a one-week long summer school, titled “3D Printing and Biofabrication”. This course brings together guest speakers from around the globe to cover the basics of additive manufacturing and bioprinting, and inform on the most recent research. Additionally, there will be hands-on workshops in our labs to see these technologies in action.

  • To further expand biofabrication education at a graduate level, members of the Malda lab developed an online course for students interested in gaining a general understanding of the state-of-the-art developments of the field of biofabrication. Over the course of 9 weeks, students attain fundamental knowledge on various aspects of biofabrication including: 3D printing techniques, biomaterials, tissue engineering, biomedical applications, clinical translation and ethics.

The course “Fundamentals of Biofabrication” is offered by the Utrecht University Graduate School of Life Sciences, and consists of web lectures from experts in the field from all over the world as well as articles, group assignments, individual assignments, peer feedback and feedback from teachers.

  • With our annual masterclass "3D printen van levende weefsels”, we educate high school students about what biofabrication is, how it is used, what it means to be a researcher in the field of biofabrication, and what is needed to get to these positions. Students can ask questions for their “profielwerkstuk”, listen to lectures, participate in discussions, and get some hands-on experience in the lab. This masterclass is provided in Dutch and more information can be found at the U-talent website.
